1-8-2015 London.
First day off and I used the time to sleep and sort my data collected so far. All up a pretty good progress for the first 5 days. It will only take a few days next week to complete my collection of images from the NHM.
Given the progress I will start organising a quick journey (daytrip) to Cambridge University Library to see Westall's drawings/paintings.
I checked with the Albert Hall (and with fellow quests at Pembridge Hall) and decided to try the 5 pound "standing-room" Gallery tickets for tonight's concert. It is not packed-out so will be a good test. I will have to queue from 5 pm for the 7 pm concert on the left of the main entrance, behind an appropriate sign, but there is a "raffle ticket" issue that lets you attend the talks prior to the concert yet not lose your place in the line. The ticket is numbered so you check for numbering either side of your place to get back in. (In the event it worked but was not popular with other queue members although the officials policed it efficiently).
Dinner was a half-quiche left-over from lunch plus an apple turnover. Not particularly healthy but quick as I needed to get into line at the Albert Hall.
Concert was an "experience" and a lot of collective fun. I got some much-needed exercise and sunlight, walking in the Park, as well as a social/cultural outing. The return late-night journey was by crowded bus so I will need to re-charge my Oyster card. Had an odd beep as I used it on the bus but the lady behind me told the driver that "it had gone green before it went red" (??). I gather she had tried to use her card before my transaction cleared (or I had run out of money on my card). Either way the driver simply waved me on but I will check at the Tube station machine tomorrow.
